Livestock Guardian Dogs
We have three Great Pyranese/ Maremma
cross LGD's. They are all about 1 year old
now. These are awesome dogs but they do
bark.....a lot! Since we put Chinook in our
main chicken yard, we have not lost any
chickens, as oppsed to loosing 150 last
winter to predators. I chose Chinook for
the poultry guard as she seemed to be the
calmest at least likely to chase poultry of
the three pups. She is now about 125
pounds and just under one year old. I can
not say enough good things about
Chinook! She has matured into a calm,
protective LGD! Kodiak is the male,
unrelated to the girls. He is also Pyrenese
and Maremma, but also looks to be
Akbash. Kodi is built quite differently than
the girls. He is much larger boned, with a
bigger head and huge jaws. He is very tall
and thinner than the girls. Kodi probably
weighs about 100 pounds at one year old.
He is a real character!
Kodi loves to visit all of the yards. He just
climbs right out of any pen we put him into
and goes where he wants, thank
goodness he seems very content staying
on our ranch as he seems to think it is his
job to oversee everything that goes on
here. Sometimes he visits the horses,
sometimes the milkers and sometimes he
visits the other dogs. Kodi is gentle with
every animal here on the ranch!
Shasta is down the road protecting the
goats at all times. Shasta is about 110
pounds and just gorgeous! She looks
much more like a "wolf" than the other
two. We do plan on breeding Kodi tp one
of the girls in about 6 months. We will be
offering puppies for sale at that time for
$300 each.
Surprise, we are expecting
puppies earlier that planned. If you are
looking for a great livestock guardian pup,
these are a great combination of only
livestock guardian breeds, nothing weird
mixed in.

We are expecting a litter of puppies in
mid-March from Shasta and Kodi. If you
reserve one before March 30th, the price
is $200, after March 30th the will be
$250-$300 each. They will come with
their first shots and dewormed
Max- 4 pound Papillon is
our kid sitter. He does a
fantastic job watching our
little guys, it's true! Every
kidding season he is
aware that this is his job
and he likes to get paid in
fresh goat milk when the
little ones get fed.
